DISPUTES ON THE LADAKH BORDER Unlike in Arunachal Pradesh in Ladakh it’s not with China. It’s with Ladakh’s own LG VK Saxena ji who is constantly firing alcohol cannons to... ‘fight drug menace in Ladakh’. Mothers & Women’s Alliances are protesting now for the 6th day against the forcible opening of bars in villages, homestays & guesthouses & near schools & temples. People fail to understand why they’re pushing alcohol in Ladakh while making Gujarat a dry state.

Whenever I raise my voice about injustices in Ladakh the government media machinery gets activated to target me & our institute HIAL’s land lease. Please take the message, don’t kill the messenger. A quick look at this letter shows their own delays if not incompetence. In all, 5 written appeals, 15 visits & 30 calls were made appealing for timely execution of land lease. WHY I WON'T BE ABLE TO JOIN YOU ALL IN DELHI...! Despite all efforts of the government to hinder & damage our work we continue to work for national security... making preparations as another winter comes. This includes making artificial glaciers for water security & experiments for GLOF or glacial lake flood security... to difuse the 200+ ticking water bombs in high Himalayas. Adapting Faiz Sahab's words I would say... Aur Bhi Gham Hain Zamaane Main Siyaast Ke Siva... Rahaten aur bhi hain wasl ki raahat ke siva. I had the privilege of a warm and fruitful interaction when Pu Sonam Wangchuk, the renowned Engineer, Educator and Activist, celebrated for leading various movements, called on me at Mizoram House, New Delhi. I am truly honoured that such a distinguished and highly admired personality among the youth of India took the time to have a long conversation with me. In our conversation, we spoke about national politics as well as regional politics, the affairs of the present world and the pressing concerns of our youth today. Pu Wangchuk expressed his keen desire to study the Memorandum of Settlement between Mizoram and India, and shared his wish that he and his colleagues from Ladakh would like to meet again, either in Mizoram or as may be mutually convenient. For my part, I told him that this Peace Accord, being the most enduring, stable and successful one, has been studied from time to time by individuals and other regions as a subject worthy of learning, and that we, the people of Mizoram who are blessed with one of the most lasting and exemplary accords of its kind, would wish that others too may have such a peace. We intend to have another meaningful interaction in the near future. During our meeting, I had the pleasure of serving Pu Sonam Wangchuk with Mizo chhangban, our traditional sticky rice cake prepared at the @mizoram_house_kitchen and our special Mizo tea. Although it was his first time tasting it, he was kind enough to say that he found it delicious. I also presented him with a scanned copy of the original Memorandum of Settlement and my book titled From Guerrilla Fighter to Chief Minister.
