DUBAI! WE SOLD EVERY SEAT OUT at the Dubai Opera House! In a historic run, the first woman to sell it out . In a city full of billionaires, an Auntie with a microphone became the hardest thing to get a seat for. (Sorry habibis who couldn’t get in!) This was our second time at the Opera House, and you came back louder, danced longer, and promised to be at every show when we return. Great news…I’ll put you down as recurring revenue 😉 To think just a few years ago, we were performing for free in Central Park and subway stations, begging strangers to stop for even a second and give us a follow. Now we’re making history all around the world. Same complaints about my mother in law. Now in significantly better lighting. Dubai, you gave us a night I’ll remember forever, and a brag my children will spend the rest of their lives hearing about. SEE YOU AGAIN SOON! ❤️

2020 I was begging people to let me tell them a joke. I had a mobile speaker and mic and I would just start a show in Central Park, the New York City subway, the Amtrak station, the bus stop the doctor office the kids soccer games wherever anybody would give me a ear. Last night for the second time I sold out Dubai Opera House - the waitlist to get into our show was so long that we’re already negotiating the next date that I can go back to get all the people in that we couldn’t last night. in 2019, I walked to one of the most popular clubs in New York asking for five minutes on this stage and I was told ‘you’re not our demographic’ - apparently a woman who has dedicated herself to raising a family, who has devoted herself to her community, to her kids schools, her friends, her neighbors a woman who gave everything believing that her job was important, was supposed to be worthless and cast aside. I was too tired to take offense and decided that they should not surprise me. I’m a Brown woman no Direct access door has ever opened for me so why would this one and I said I’m gonna go straight to my people people who understand my life, who share my experiences, to feel invisible like I did. And a journey began. As this photo popped up in my niece @akansha_ganju reminder, she sent it to me and said look how far you’ve come - I had to tell her that believe it or not not that far because that club that declined me in 2020 still will not give me stage time in 2026! But we found ways around it as we always do. This post is to remind every person who has been rejected, othered, overlooked and underestimated - there is a space for you - keep pushing. Push so hard that the person who originally rejected you becomes irrelevant and you become the new standard.

Caught up w some friend + made some new friends!

Geneva, Switzerland is where my husband and I first lived together after getting married. You can say it’s where the “love brewed,” if Indians were capable of that… We bought our kids here to relive none of those memories, however. We’re reminiscing about slapping ducks, feeling like a loser wife, and banning my kids from having fun in Lake Geneva. Yup, that sounds more like us. 2 months ago walking 3 miles as a ‘slow’ day would have been unthinkable but here we are. Still recovering from a medical procedure – living out of a suitcase and that means my clothes are not fresh. I don’t know where exactly I am. The food situation is up in the air, but I’m proud to say I still got a few miles in. I’m a fitness girlie now?!

Was it too much?

Dealt w a medical situation during the day and wasn’t a new environment but I didn’t let that stop me - I just went back-and-forth around the place where I’m staying and decided that I will not stop until I get 5 miles in and once I did that, I decided let me see if I can push for a little more …. I’m sure I looked crazy walking back and forth on one strip of sidewalk endlessly but I didn’t care. It won’t be the first time I look stupid 🤷🏽‍♀️ It could’ve been the most boring walk on earth instead, I just kept repeating to myself that boring is what gets results and I just kept pushing through. Boring got it done. Who’s cool now 💁🏽‍♀️

Yet of course, all my kids have the wrong friends.

My kids owe me and I have no qualms about asking for help. This does two things: 1. It teaches them that they have to step up and support mom and 2. It teaches them that there is a life beyond themselves and their own pursuit of happiness. I do not agree with the American idea that kids grow up and walk away one day. As I reflect back on the sacrifices I made during the years of parenting little kids, the direct beneficiaries of those sacrifices were the kids. When they were little, I sat through countless hours of test prep, swimming meets, ice skating competitions, track practices and more. Now, as I have undertaken the journey of walking the NYC Marathon, the first thing I did was recruit my kids, nay, inform them that they will be walking it with me. Now, I’m afraid and need them to hold my hand through it. I’m blessed they don’t push back. They understand. Ultimately what am I doing all this for? Do I need another bag? A diamond? A vacation? No. I’m doing it to establish our family. To firmly plant a flag that while the Gargs are world renowned entertainers, creators, influencers, social media personalities and podcasters (exciting news to come shortly!) - the base of it all is a real and undeniable level of hard work and achievement. This time we’re taking on the NYC marathon together - 3 of us are walking it, the young one who actually runs the fastest but cannot participate due to age is training us and @financedadpodcast is in charge of keeping everyone motivated. We represent millions of families like us who are loving, studious, curious, academically oriented, financially motivated people who remain focused on building with positivity. The world will do everything to rip families apart because that is how they sell more shit. They want boys to gamble, girls to obsess over fashion, dads to pass out drunk with a beer and moms to need meds to deal with it all. No one ended up buying random gadgets off the internet when they were hanging with people they love and respect. We end up doing that when we are alone and scared. Don’t let them win by getting you in that dark space. Stay united. 📸 @lindseybelle

Great. She learned nothing.

There’s never been a perfect time to prioritize my health and fitness. There’s always been other things going on that were ‘so important’. Today I walked 10 miles continuously this week because I had it in my mind that it was a milestone I wanted to hit in preparation for my run with the @nycmarathon I won’t say it was easy, but it wasn’t impossible or monumentally hard either. I paced myself, I was in no rush. I walked intentionally, not strolling, but also not racing with anyone but my own peace of mind. My slow bollywood songs, not dance music, nothing to make me go faster than I wanted to. I was determined to do it my way. Believing I can do something has been the key to actually getting it done. Three weeks ago, I laughed nervously at the idea that I would run, walk or do anything at any marathon and then I slapped myself hard in the face and reminded myself that when opportunity knocks not to complain about the noise and to get on it! One of America’s most iconic beauty brands @maybelline showed up in my inbox like a digital angel and innocently asked, ‘do you want to do this because we want to do this with you’ and I was not going to let them down - me I can let down for myself no problem. But I have a long documented history of coming through for others. My twisted mind was going to use this pattern of success to conquer my biggest achilles heel yet - my own body and sense of self-worth. Whether I get through the marathon or not, at this point, I’ve already won something so big - I freaking walked 10 miles continuously without freaking out, without crying, without second guessing myself, without trying to quit, without feeling imaginary aches and pains and heat and cold. I just did it. Someone said, just do it. I did. And I believe you can too. Post a comment below and tell me what you will get done this week, it can be something as small as I will walk 10 minutes intentionally - write it down and do it. I promise you, you will feel so good at having kept a promise to yourself. And after you make and keep one promise, you will want to make and keep another! That’s been my experience. Just do it and keep doing it.

For the first time in my life, I am putting in the work for myself. Not for my family. Not for my kids. Not for my husband. Not for my community … school … charity, blah blah. I am doing it for MYSELF. How did I get the courage to go for it? Because @maybelline casually reached out and asked, hey, you want to run the @nycmarathon with us? They asked as if it was a totally normal idea to ask me to run a marathon when they can see plain as day that I’m not an athlete, not in shape and not even sure I can walk 5 miles. I should’ve just said no when my team brought the idea to me and said, this will likely not work, but we’re presenting it to you and you let us know. The old Zarna would have chickened out. But I decided to have faith in team Maybelline’s faith in me. It’s easier for me to believe in others than in myself. Because why should I believe in myself easily. You know what I mean? I said - maybe I can Everyday I get scared and every day I talk myself into pushing through - one step at a time, one song at a time, one gust of wind at a time. Maybe one more try! Knowing that my journey is inspiring some of you to make a move in the direction of your own battles is giving me life. I named my shoe, the Auntie because I am all of you and everyone of you who wishes me success is a part of my journey. We are all together in this. We are pushy, demanding, noisy, overbearing but now also high achieving, successful and healthy aunties. We keep communities together and traditions alive. When everything is falling apart, we keep the world going. I believe in us. We have to stop wasting time. We got now. Proudly, Auntie.

That last one was completely optional though 😬 Jokes aside, putting on a show that you actually WANT to bring your family too is really why I do this. I mean, that’s why my kids aren’t getting a labor weekend vacation but coming to work with me instead... We laughed. We danced. We sang a little. You bought the merch. Thinking about dinner as we speak

The unfortunate truth is that my own culture does not exactly care for nor believe in my ‘voice’ and they are even less enthusiastic about me voicing it! It is not uncommon for some of my own people to chide me even today ‘why did you have to say that’ about the most obvious, banal, stupid incongruity that needed to be pointed out. Gloria Steinem paved the way American women taught me that I have a voice and a right to use it. Over the years I’ve watched American women carry the fight for women’s rights while a somewhat comfortably set up brown woman like me didn’t have to worry about it. I was married to a good guy, I came from a ‘good’ family. Why would I involve myself? That delusional existence ended when my own life came crashing down again during covid and I had had it. NO MORE. I was going to take charge of my life. American women cannot bear the burden for all women of the world. All women have to step up. Especially those living in comfort in other cultures who feel ‘none of this feminism stuff applies to me’. I know the feeling, I was one of them. But we live in a connected world. Women without privilege have no power, the men have created the current mess we live in - they love how things are! So if women with privilege won’t get involved - because their own existence depends on their silence and complicity, how will this get solved??? How lucky were we that both @zoyagarg_ and I got to say all this to Gloria last year in person, thanks to our incredible friend @justbobbidotcom - promising her that we join this fight and remain committed to it. Gloria’s love of India was evident. She shared observations about women’s rights as they pertain to brown women and emphasized specifically - ‘problems of women in the west are not removed from problems of women in Asia.’ In those few hours, she helped both Zoya and I our unique position between two cultures and how we can effectively communicate and execute it with warmth and love. Gloria told us she was a fan of my comedy and my heart skipped a beat. We got her blessing.

We took a one week no work/low work ‘cation. This turned into a lotta work but it was all European style with a lot of si senór agua (and a little tequila 😉). Lots of sun. We walked, I lunged. My soul was rejuvenated, until my airplane got delayed for the return. And now obviously I need to plan another trip to recover from this one. I have found in life, in love, and in travel, the cycles of high-low joy and disappointment, happy-sad, all mostly depends on how much battery my phone has - literally and figuratively Madrid you were cool. Cooler than I expected. London you were hot - no pun, I mean it. All handheld fans in the stores were stolen. Made me nostalgic for nyc. The kingdom which was so big that at one time the sun never set upon it - even though a fraction of its size today - has kept its top dog position because anyone who was anyone and everyone was someone was compelled to be there in July 2026 🏰 Au revoir, arrivederci, ciao, salud until we meet again very soon cuz Europe dates coming up. WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS. Except the laughter, the dancing, and the singing, because we dragged all of that straight out of the Palazzo with us. Vegas, you did not come for a quiet little comedy show. You came ready to roar and dance like the casino had already taken your money (which it probably did 😝). By the end of the night, we were one giant family party where nobody knew when to go home. Palazzo - stunning theatre, electric casino, luxurious hotel, even better pools. Drooling just thinking about this weekend all over again. You laughed loud, danced harder, sang every word. Vegas, thank you for a night we absolutely will not be keeping to ourselves. So naturally, I sent my children out to manage the crisis. I have a very complicated relationship w clothes and even more so with Indian clothes. This July 4th weekend I’m liberating myself and making the decision to wear what I want, when I want. This may feel confusing to many of you but sourcing and keeping up with custom made, bright colored Indian clothes - with a custom belt for each outfit has been so stressful I cannot even explain. Add to that my insane travel and touring schedule of being in a stage practically every night of the year and living in fear that if my checked luggage doesn’t make it, I’m doomed. Indian clothes designed and conceptualized by me helped me get started on stage - but now it is time to evolve and that brought in new fears. But in life and in business - you have to keep pushing - beyond what’s comfortable and known. This Independence Day, I declare independence from this outfitting trauma and fully embrace my identity in stage and off and performed my first ever stand up set in jeans!!! Here’s the clip! A loud, outspoken, overweight certifiably annoying Indian aunty in weird clothes, with an accent and a literal target on her head would have no chance of succeeding anywhere else. Not even in India, my own home country. Nope - not happening. It’s only possible in America. I make my own money - finally! Happy Independence Day to me!!!! My whole life all I wanted was to be a business owner. Any business - small, big, glamorous, boring. For 20 years, as a stay at home mom - I returned most gifts anyone gave me and put the money away in the ‘one day I’ll start a business fund’ It took years and years and years of waiting to get started and then failing over and over to find my thing. But I found it and am now dragging my whole family through it - fun! America made it possible 🇺🇸 You know what’s crazy - my story is hardly exceptional! A million success stories are written everyday in the USA. Big and small - this country is full of unlikely victories and tales of people beating impossible odds. Small town USA in particular is filled with people chasing their dreams and winning. People think the action is in big cities but I’ve found tiny cities endlessly inspiring - everywhere I go I make it a point to visit local businesses to check out what they’re doing and I’m amazed at the work ethic, optimism and commitment in the air. This Independence Day I invite you to free yourself from whatever is holding you back - let today be the last day fear controls you - hurl yourself out in the world in the biggest, baddest way possible and take that chance! I am blown away by the fact that our videos made with the most basic equipment, with no Director, no sound mixing, no color correcting - none of those things - actually we don’t know what those things are. Our simple videos are resonating worldwide! We just shoot and point the video and riff as we go. There is no script! Not a word is written down! We just have fun and try to capture that! I wasn’t even going to submit for @thewebbyawards because I had seen usually only big names and big companies win these things - I told @zoyagarg_ to not waste time on this as she felt strongly we should apply and disregarded my advice and applied anyway. And now here we are. 7 years of believing and building, loving and giving. Creating and iterating. We found ourselves on the Mount Olympus of the internet. We are so grateful 🙏

Therapist might need some therapy 😫

I lost both my parents before I turned 15 and it’s been over 35 years of building the family I wish I had growing up. What an intense, incredible and crazy ride - motherhood in America - in equal measures exhilarating and exhausting. Thank you to my best friends @zoyagarg_ @brij__garg @veergarg__ who not only surround me with their love and protection but also fight battles for me proactively so I can have a clear path to walk forward. This Mother’s Day I’m reminded of how much fun I have playing with my kids - I used to jump in the pool with them, now they jump on stage with me. Together we are a unit that wants for no outside validation. We need no invitations from anyone - we are our own party. We laugh, we cry, we solve puzzles together - literally and metaphorically. Without them I would have no wind beneath my wings, no fire in my belly and no coke to my pizza (I ran out of ideas and food came to mind). Without them I would have no exciting ‘are you the parent of xx’ emails in my inbox. Without them I would have no jokes, no stories … also no need to work this hard (but we’ll save that for another day) Without them I’d be alone and lost and scared again like I was in 1990. Without them I wouldn’t be mom.

5 events in 3 cities in 3 days across country - multiple weather zones, flights getting messed up constantly, bags getting lost or delayed, all kinds of logistics fall apart, and i deal with this on the daily. The amount of preparation it takes to show up as a female performing artist and CEO is beyond comprehension, even to me and I’m doing it. My checked luggage has all my outfitting/wardrobe needs plus my HMU kit plus merch that has to be carried specifically for business reasons. Because anything can happen when you fly as much as I do, I have a whole second set of hair makeup and wardrobe, outfitting in my carry-on luggage at all times. And my carry-on bags have to carry all my tech equipment because the Internet world which is a big part of my job is non stop – laptops (plural), iPads, chargers, headphones, mics, lighting and so much more. My team is also equally prepared but because of the uneven nature of flying, I always have to carry an entire back up set just in case so that I deliver on the things I’ve committed myself to even if they can’t for whatever reason. I’ve learned to eat things that I hate, absolutely detest (eggs), I’ve taught myself to carry emergency snacks and almost all my outerwear doubles as a pillow or a blanket if it comes down to it - hah! in addition – there are multiple backup tickets on multiple airlines, I have to track and cancel last minute. I’ve had comics ask me why don’t I just say I couldn’t make it and I don’t know the answer to that but I’ve never done anything halfheartedly if I’m in, I’m all in - to anal, obsessive compulsive absolutely manic levels of commitment - I don’t know how to do things any other way for better of a worse, blessing or curse. In all of this chaos, I also have to add layers of clothing for the airplane because it could be hot, it could be cold, it could be both and I don’t like to be the one that’s complaining so I’m usually dressed in five layers with the ability to go up and down very quickly. Not even gonna get into having carpal tunnel in both hands, makes my kids sad. One day when I’m successful and I make it all look easy, you’ll know I’m lying,

If she pulled it off, we all can too. I have watched a few videos and her comedy special prior to reading this book, and at the end of the reading her book, Zarna feels like a friend you would want to keep hanging out with. She is fun! Basically my life now is about having fun while getting the bag. It’s been years of getting over imposter syndrome, insecurity, not believing I belong, not believing I’m ready enough, not thinking my ideas have value, not being able to imagine myself as a successful person and yada yada yada. I know the pain. I know the desperation. I know the feeling of hopelessness all too well. But I also know we can get out of it – for sure. This sounds crazy as I’m typing the words, but I believe I’ve been anointed to do this. There is no other explanation for my life, my trajectory, and most of all the love that I get from people all over the world. None of this can be faked, or orchestrated, or predicted. My MIL is trying as we speak 🙄 I’m working on finding products, tools, services, strategies, shortcuts, support system - anything and everything that we could use to overcome our inner battles and get our spot in the sun that we all deserve. WE ARE BACK POD FAM!!! To say we were never traditional parents… Now our kids are adults, and somehow even less prepared for the real world. We had one weekend off after a grueling nov/dec and before an insane 2026 touring year kicks off. I begged the kids to agree to a quick trip to Miami - sun, beach, air - they refused bec after years of not taking vacations now they’ve become cynical and practical - it’s too expensive, we’ll end up working anyway, no one’s in the mood to relax!!!! So we decided to stay put in NYC for one weekend with no plans and then @thegarden came calling and upended my age old ideas of live events, performances, how to create memories. After my post last night about going to a @nyknicks game and my prejudices against live events - I got bombarded with inquiries from parents about what I really thought about the experience and whether I would recommend it or not honestly. I learned through many many emails, DMS, messages that parents in America deal with this - their kids really want to go to Sports, Music, shows of all kinds and they just don’t understand and or value the experience. @zarnagargfamilypodcast is going to tackle this topic – do a deep dive on what events seem worth it, what feels overhyped and where parents may have gotten something wrong in assuming that they serve no purpose. i’m trying to post as many behind-the-scenes videos as I can to show all the fun things they do at these games so not a single minute feels boring. Even if you don’t know the teams or understand the sport, there is enough excitement and energy in the air to make it memorable. This is something I was not aware of until I went to my first game @thegarden - I had assumed that you have to be very familiar with the sport, the teams, the rules, the players, their statistics to enjoy any of it, and I could not be more wrong. They seem to go out of the way to make make it energetic – there was even a quiz! I thought I was losing my mind when a trivia quiz came up, and then I started imagining all the other quizzes we could have through the game - spelling! Math! Biology!! In the end, the kids were right – all we really wanted or needed to do was to work more and just have fun doing that ♥️ TY @thegarden @nyknicks let’s play ball

Brought in 2026 doing what we love to do - BE YOUR REAL LIFE DIGITAL FAMILY ♥️ Every year we create holiday experiences that we would like to go to - small size, luxe, joyful, full of love with kith and kin and best part - no one ‘host’ has to do the work - we leave it to the professionals and pay them well to do it! This year was no different. We closed out December 2025 with FIFTY shows (most of them SOLD OUT) - many grueling days of doubles and triples across the nation. NYE was EPIC. People flew in from Kuwait, New Zealand, South Carolina - drove in from NJ/CT - Upper East Siders even crossed the park 😱 to be a part of the madness. The Garg family and Team Z pulls all stops because we are doing what we love. Special thanks to the *most* exquisite comedy club in NYC @westsidecomedyclub and @feliciamadisoncomedian for cheerfully partnering up with us no matter how crazy our plans and for seeing the vision. Being feted for a record breaking number of tickets sold at a venue was not on our bingo card for 2025 but here we are Every year for five years our family has devoted itself to creating fun, wholesome family holiday experiences that other families can come and enjoy together. What a celebration of community - we feel so lucky, so blessed - feels like Christmas came early 🎄

Why so stressed out?

RECORD-BREAKING NINE SOLD OUT SHOW RUN underway in Houston, Texas! Shows being added one day, selling out the next - while the tour is ongoing! It’s bat sh*t crazy bananas. We’re having to buy out other acts to make time and space for our exploding waitlists while we’re here! Our newest set conquering hearts all over the country. People come on day one in a new city, come back day two with more friends, return day three with even more and push the club to add more shows because there is no more room in the room! Everything is bigger in Texas but the biggest thing you’ll find here is people’s hearts! The outpouring of love we’re experiencing is unprecedented. Team Zarna is BLOWN AWAY. We knew we would do well, but on the back of an epic, record breaking eight show run in San Jose, CA - where we also set new records for ticket sales - for the first time ever, our entire team is observing strict voice rest in between shows. It’s impossible to say what is causing this insane spike in sales but it is coinciding with @zoyagarg_ taking over as COO of the company and laying down digital and methodical strategies to consolidate and focus on how we build our business. Maybe she learned something in college after all 😭 Thanks god for our indefatigable Chief of Socials @samama.m who maneuvers last minute changes better than covert navy seals, our phenomenal opener @marycaponecomedy who has become accustomed to panicked midnight texts, new show added at noon tomorrow, we have to be there very early! My kid @veer_garg11 who is flying back and forth cross country to keep his straight A average in school but also help mamma on weekends. To @financedadpodcast and @brij__garg who provide digital back up from home base because the ground team is buried under last minute logistics and mayhem. It takes a village to raise a mom comedian and my villagers are sharp shooting NY’kers who cut their teeth on grit, ambition and a badonkerdoodle work ethic - it’s the upper east side village at work 24/7 There’s no PTO when product market fit occurs. Nothing and nobody can stop an idea whose time has come. It’s Auntie time - let’s go 🚀

Winter white season is here ❄️ I wear so many bright colors on stage and screen that it’s easy to forget that my own personal preference is beige, cream, bone, tan - white on white with texture. My favorite look for myself. Basic makeup, pulled together hair. Only thing I might change is shoes - this meeting required a more formal look, but for myself I may have put white sneakers on. The magic lies in mixing fabrics, materials - a friend had once advised me if you’re buying something expensive, avoid black - buy the lighter colors so the fine details really show - any thing looks good in black - much harder to make whites look polished. I’ve come to agree.

Every year my boys cry over dinner in November when they recap what they mean to each other. Both my boys have birthdays ten days apart and last few years it’s been the two of them celebrating alone while @financedadpodcast and I work like crazy during holiday season and @zoyagarg_ was frantically trying to finish her degree so she could join us in our fight against monumental odds to bring our family out of insanely difficult financial circumstances during Covid and find our balance again. For the first time in a long time 2025 feels like we may be turning a corner. Years of sacrificing it all to build together and stay focused have taken a toll on us. None of us paid more of a price than @brij__garg who has taken over the emotional weight of raising his brother @veer_garg11 the physical toll of keeping our home together while mom traveled for a living and the mental stress of being the peacemaker between five volatile Gargs. In deep, dark moments, Brij gave us confidence that we’ll get through it and he’s never once claimed credit for any of his work. Years of staying home with his brother, years of cleaning up at midnight so I don’t come home to a mess, years of talking his dad on a man to man walk to bolster dads shaken confidence, years of responding to his sisters dating crises so she doesn’t feel alone in CA. This boy has poured himself into building and bonding our family - doing the most laborious, invisible jobs alone. The guilt I bear cannot be measured but neither can my pride. I take comfort in knowing my son’s character is forged in fire and he’s 24 carat gold through and through.
